This visualization was constructed using the vega-lite-api. It was originally forked from one of Curran Kelleher's Vega-Lite API templates and modified to include Television Show Rating data which originates from R for Data Science's Tidy Tuesday weekly event for January 8, 2019.
This chart shows Average Rating by Season Number (for television shows). It also represents the rating share with point size. For readability, the chart does not show average ratings below 6 or seasons beyond 20, though I would want to change how that is handled in future, more polished visualizations.
It doesn't seem like a firm conclusion can be made as to how rating changes by season; however, the chart does show how share steadily decreases as a show produces more seasons, and it also gives an idea of the commonality of reaching season count milestones.
