This example displays the global total COVID-19 deaths from the Johns Hopkins CSSE time-series dataset, presenting a single large text value with the latest date. It uses d3.csv to load the data, selects the final date column, sums all country values with Array.reduce, and formats the result using d3.format. The number and date are inserted into the DOM via textContent, styled with dark red and a large font size through a stylesheet.
