This example visualizes 2018 general project funding items across academic departments, split by institution type (schools, research institutes, others) using a horizontal stacked bar chart. Each department row shows the proportion of items funded within that category, with an animated color legend that highlights and fades bars on hover. The visualization is built with D3 v3, using `d3.layout.stack` for the stacked layout, `d3.svg.axis` for the axes, `d3.legend.color` for the interactive legend, and `d3-tip` for tooltips. The data is loaded from a local CSV file containing department, category, and item counts.
