Context: Suppose you own a really big battery that is hooked up to the energy grid. One way to make money is to charge the battery (buy energy) when energy prices are low and sell that energy to the grid when prices are high.

One way to quantify the amount of money that could be made is called rtb (real-time-top-bottom). For my data, rtb is the highest four hourly prices on a given day minus the lowest four prices. This value represents the amount of money a battery owner could make by running their battery for four hours (and charging for four hours) if they time everything perfectly.

The goal for this viz is to explore the relationship between rtb and weather. On the left there is a scatterplot showing daily rtb values vs the day of the year. On the right there is a lineplot that compares the actual weather from that day to the average for that month across the entire dataset.

Make it fullscreen. thanks :)
