This example demonstrates the general update pattern with a bowl of fruit changing over time. It shows five apples that are eaten and replaced with a lemon through a series of timed transitions. The visualization uses d3.selectAll with data joins, entering and exiting selections to manage SVG circles and text labels. Key APIs include d3.scaleOrdinal for color and radius mapping, while the code handles element removal and attribute updates for each state change.
