Five pieces of fruit (apples and a lemon) are rendered in an SVG bowl. Hovering over a fruit selects it, highlighting it with a black outline. The bowl uses D3 v5's data join to update the scene across timed changes: one apple is removed, another is replaced by a lemon, and a third is filtered out. Color and radius are mapped by ordinal scales, while fruit positions are computed from their array index.
