The map uses D3.js geo APIs, including `geoNaturalEarth1`, `geoPath`, and `geoGraticule`, to project and render the geographic features. The underlying boundary data comes from the World Atlas TopoJSON. The visualization is built within a React application, with `topojson` being used to process the topology into features for the sphere and land masses, with the land filled in a teal color.
