A world map rendered in SVG displays nuclear explosion locations as small points on a Mercator projection. The visualization uses the World Atlas TopoJSON for land interiors and graticules, with the `geoPath` API to draw the map. Each data point is positioned via the `geoMercator` projection and includes a hover tooltip showing its latitude and longitude. The data comes from a CSV of nuclear explosions, loaded with the D3 `csv` function, and the entire chart is built with React and D3 v5.

AI-generated description

World Atlas TopoJSON. The points are off by a small fraction (down and to the left) however it fits much better on the Mercator projection over the Natural Earth projection. When the user hovers over each point, they can see the latitude and logitude of that deployment.
