This example shows a blank SVG canvas before loading population data from a CSV file. The code uses D3 v5’s `select` and `csv` methods to fetch `data.csv`, converts the `population` values from strings to numbers, and logs the resulting array to the console. No bars are drawn—the visualization only prepares the data and renders an empty 960×500 SVG stage, with styles resetting margins and hiding overflow.
