A dropdown menu built with React offers a selection of pet options (dog, cat, hamster, parrot, spider, goldfish), and the chosen value is logged to the console. The page renders an HTML `<select>` element via React’s `useState` and event handling, styled with a large font. D3.js is loaded but unused; the visualization is purely an interactive form component rendered through ReactDOM.
