This example displays a map of Japan rendered as a single brown SVG path with black borders against a light blue background. It uses d3.json to load country boundaries from the world-atlas TopoJSON dataset, filters the features to isolate Japan, and projects the coordinates using d3.geoMercator with a custom translation. The d3.geoPath generator then converts the projected geometry into SVG path data, while topojson.feature extracts the GeoJSON from the TopoJSON structure.
