The map uses a natural Earth projection rendered with SVG via `d3.geoPath`, with country boundaries and graticules drawn from TopoJSON data. Circle radii are scaled using `d3.scaleSqrt` based on the maximum reported casualties. The dataset comes from the Missing Migrants Project, and the visualization is built with React and D3 v5.
