This is a recreation of Charles Minard's 1869 map visualizing Napoleon's Russian campaign, depicting the size of the Grande Armée as a flowing, colored path whose width is proportional to troop count. The visualization combines geographic data, city markers, river layouts, and a temperature chart to tell the story of the advance and retreat. Built with D3.js v7 on an SVG canvas, it uses `d3.area`, `d3.scaleLinear`, and tooltip interactions.
