This choropleth map visualizes effective property tax rates across all U.S. states, using a red sequential color scale where darker shades indicate higher tax rates. Built with D3.js v7 and TopoJSON, the visualization renders the states as SVG paths via the `d3.geoPath` and `d3.geoAlbersUsa` projection, with hover tooltips revealing exact rates and national rankings. The map loads state boundaries from the us-atlas package and joins them with a local CSV of tax data from the Tax Foundation and Census Bureau. State rankings are also displayed in companion lists above the map.
