This example displays the Crime Index of various countries as a smooth area chart, overlaid with a black line for emphasis. Although the heading references UK population, the data comes from an external CSV file. The code uses d3.csv to load the data, d3.scaleTime and d3.scaleLinear for axes, and d3.area with d3.curveBasis to generate the filled SVG path. Axis ticks are styled with a custom orange color via CSS.
