This example shows a basic bar chart of country populations, with population values scaled by a factor of one thousand. The chart uses D3 version 5’s `select` and `csv` functions to load the data from a CSV file and target the SVG element for rendering. The code reads the SVG’s width and height attributes to prepare for drawing, but the bars themselves are not yet drawn, as the data processing and logging constitute the visible portion of the implementation.
