This example shows the ten most populous countries as a vertical bar chart, with each bar’s height plotted on an SVG canvas against a plain white background. It uses the d3.select API to access the pre‑defined `<svg>` element and retrieves its width and height attributes via `attr()` for sizing. The chart is built with D3 version 5 and the SVG rendering method, but does not include the bar‑drawing code in the visible files. Population data comes from the `data.csv` file.
