This example demonstrates D3's general update pattern with special cases for adding, removing, and mutating data. A bowl of fruit animates as apples disappear and one transforms into a lemon, using enter, merge, and exit selections. The code employs d3.scaleOrdinal for color and radius mapping, with SVG circle and text elements positioned via transforms. Animated transitions occur through setTimeout-triggered re-renders.
