This example demonstrates D3.js general update pattern special cases with a bowl of fruit that changes over time. Animated through multiple setTimeout stages, the visualization shows apples being added, removed, and replaced with lemons, with circles and text labels updating via enter, update, and exit selections. The code uses d3.scaleOrdinal for color and radius scales, along with selection.merge and selection.exit to handle dynamic data arrays.
