A red square fills the SVG canvas. The example is built with D3 version 5, using `d3.select` to target the `svg` element and applying a background color directly through the `style` method. This minimal sketch sets a solid red background on a 960 by 500 pixel SVG, with the page margin zeroed in CSS to create a full-bleed effect.
