This example displays city populations as scaled, semi-transparent circles over a natural Earth projection map. The visualization layers geographic context using d3.geoNaturalEarth1, d3.geoPath, and d3.geoGraticule to render land masses, country borders, and graticules. Population data from a CSV file is loaded via d3.csv and mapped through a d3.scaleSqrt to determine circle radii. The React component structure, leveraging hooks for data fetching, renders the map and points as SVG elements, with world atlas topology processed through topojson.feature and topojson.mesh.
