The code initializes the SVG element and logs the D3 object to the console, but does not yet add any facial features or interactive behavior. It uses the D3 selection and SVG namespace APIs to set up the drawing surface, while the stylesheet sets `overflow: hidden` on the body. The face itself remains implicit, awaiting subsequent D3 shape or path commands.
