Rows of apples and lemons animate into and out of a bowl using the general update pattern in D3 v5. The code demonstrates the enter, update, and exit selections through `selection.data`, `selection.enter`, and `selection.exit`, with `transition().duration(1000)` animating circle radii and positions. `d3.scaleOrdinal` maps fruit types to colors and radius values, while React renders the SVG containing the animated circles. Fruits are added and removed via timed JavaScript actions that trigger re-renders.
