This example shows the distribution of extinct animal species by country using a pie chart, with a legend displaying each country’s name and its corresponding count. The visualization is built with D3 v5, using the `d3.pie` and `d3.arc` generators to compute and render the SVG paths, and `d3.scaleOrdinal` to assign colors to each country. Data is loaded asynchronously from a GitHub-hosted CSV via `d3.csv`. Each slice is labeled through a custom legend, and numeric values are formatted with `d3.format`.
