In Tibetan Buddhism, the 21 Emanations (Manifestations) of Tara are different compassionate expressions of the same enlightened activity. Each Tara protects from specific fears and obstacles and embodies swift, active compassion.
Below is the traditional list of the 21 Taras, commonly recited in the Praise to the 21 Taras (Jetsün Drölma):

Black Tara – Power, protection, fierce compassion
Orange Tara – Overcomes inner fears and anxieties
Yellow Tara – Wealth, generosity, increase of merit
Smoky-colored Tara – Dispels confusion and depression
Wrathful Tara – Destroys powerful obstacles
Tara of the Uṣṇīṣa Victory – Overcomes defeat and loss
Tara Who Brings Peace – Pacifies illness and conflict

All 21 Taras are one Tara, appearing in different forms to help beings according to their needs.
Green Tara is the source form; the others are her emanations.
The practice is especially central in Kagyu, Nyingma, and Gelug traditions.
Recitation is often done daily for protection, compassion, and courage.
