Stacked Bar Chart showing AP Test scores of Massachusetts School districts by year.
Each stack should be the total amount of tests with that score by year.
MA DESE AP participation data comes from DESE repository.
Q:Are there longitudinal patterns of AP Test taking? A:With this limited visualization, there is a clear pattern of increased participation of AP Tests.
Q: Are there AP Performance patterns over time? A: Broad strokes - most of the scoring buckets have grown over time, with "Score=5", which is the highest possible score, being the most stable. "Score=2" has grown quite a bit, which may indicate pressure to participate in AP on students who may not be interested or ready for the challenge.
Q: Do high test taking schools have relatively high success rates (scores >=3)? A: Until I learn how to filter this data by district or other dimension, I will not be able to answer this here.
Q: Are there any notable geographical patterns associated with test taking or success? A: I would like to work out using some GIS data to visualize this data as a school district heat map. I can't currently answer this question using this visualization.
