This visualization was originally forked from one of Curran Kelleher's menu examples and modified to include Franchise Revenue data which originates from R for Data Science's Tidy Tuesday weekly event for July 2, 2019.
This visualization extends the last by allowing the user to select either category revenue (for a franchise's specific categories like Box Office or Video Games) or total revenue (across the entire franchise). It also allows for selection of the color axis, introducing the revenue category as a selectable item.
The marks now incorporate opacity for two reasons. The first is to help visibility of closely-packed data points, especially if category revenue is selected. The second is to highlight interesting behavior when viewing total revenue by revenue category; this superimposes each category, and the "dirtier" the data point's color, the more categories the franchise has. It's not the final look I want, but it's a cool observation in the interim.
Original Media is now grouped into 8 generalized types, and the legend color palette is updated.
